Presentation
Known as Mothers of the _Plaza de Mayo_, who during and after the military regime were daily demonstrating there about the fate of their missing children and relatives. Certainly during the military regime they were a very courageous group, inspiring similar movements elsewhere in the world.
Jarig Bakker, 22 Dec 2001
The Madres de la Plaza de Mayo movement is a women's Argentine movement that aims at finding our what happened to the people that disappeared during the years of military dictatorship in the country and at sending the people responsible for the disappearings to the justice.
Jorge Candeias, 5 Feb 2005
The headkerchief is the symbol of the group because the mothers have worn it during their meetings in the_Plaza de Mayo_. It was first used in a meeting in Lujn in 1977 as a way to recognize themselves in the crowd. Then it became their symbol.

About the flag
The flag is marine blue with a [drawing of a] white cloth folded and tied in order to cover the head. There is a white border all around the flag. There are words in white characters too over the marine blue background. [See a photo].
Santiago Tazn, 22 Dec 2001
The white words in the flag are the name of the group above the headkerchief: Asociacin Madres de Plaza de Mayo that means Association of May-Square Mothers, and the expression and motto of the group that is "Ni un paso atrs!" that means "Not even a step backwards!" below.
